Good-value veggie lunches

7

Handily located near the middle of Gamla Stan, Hermitage is a bright and sunny vegetarian café doing great-value buffet lunches.

Up to 80% of the ingredients served here are organic, the owners say, and lots of the food is suitable for vegans – which might explain why the place is such a big hit with arty types and eco-minded students.

Pay 110 SEK at lunchtime (weekdays from 11am–3pm) and you can take your pick from a small buffet of healthy salads and a couple of warm dishes like falafel, dal and vegetable stew. Chutneys and homemade bread are always available, along with plenty of dips and sauces.

Hermitage Stockholm

A similar deal is run after 3pm and at weekends, when the buffet costs 120 SEK. Sit inside the cosy café, or grab a seat out on the cobbles and wrap yourself up in one of their green or yellow blankets.

Alternatively you can order a quick snack to go – there are some good cakes available and on a cold and snowy day, their hot chocolate will hit the spot.
