Kick off the New Year at Helsinki’s Musiikkitalo (concert hall) with a dose of Viennese refinement as the esteemed Schönbrunn Palace Orchestra and soloists take centre stage in a series of traditional concerts.
Mimicking the globally renowned New Year’s concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, these January performances promise a beguiling blend of classical repertoires that resonate with audiences around the world.
With a line-up that dazzles like a Viennese ballroom, the touring ensemble’s repertoire features the works of Mozart, the Strauss dynasty and their contemporaries.
A rendition of Johann Strauss the Younger’s Danube Beautiful Wiener Waltz is a standout moment, beautifully complementing the iconic strains of the Radetzky March by Johann Strauss the Elder.
Conducting the ensemble is Sweden’s Mika Eichenholz, with sopranos Jenifer Lary and Simona Eisinger and baritone Michael Havlicek.
